ABC NEWS – After a 14-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy apparently ran away from a Florida group home and allegedly opened fire on deputies, that home — and the juvenile justice system — are now under the spotlight. The children ran away Tuesday evening and then allegedly broke into an empty house, which the homeowner said was stocked with an AK-47, a handgun, a shotgun and a large amount of ammunition, the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said. Deputies surrounded the home and tried to talk the children into surrendering, but the children started firing from multiple angles, the sheriff’s office said.
