CNN – Amid ongoing protests against Canada’s Covid-19 regulations, Ottawa Police Service Chief Peter Sloly on Tuesday informed the capital city’s police services board of his resignation, CNN has learned.
A formal announcement is expected later in the day.
Residents have told CNN they were dismayed by the chief’s lack of enforcement on their city streets.
Sloly has said enforcement has been complex and delicate, pointing out that families are embedded within the protesters. The chief has said repeatedly he did not have enough resources to deal with such a large protest.
