The Wall Street Journal – Airlines are canceling hundreds of flights as a severe winter storm is expected to bring freezing temperatures, gusty winds and snow across swaths of the country in the coming days.

Over 1,400 U.S. flights originally scheduled for Thursday had been canceled, according to FlightAware, a flight tracking site. Airports in Denver and Chicago had some of the biggest cuts. Airlines also scrubbed about 700 flights scheduled for Friday as they prepared for the nasty weather to sweep eastward in the coming days…
